Professional landscape design will enhance the look of your home or business by combining the best plantings with a design that stays beautiful for years to come. Our experience and equipment enables us to handle any size job around the Madison area, including the largest commercial landscaping projects. We provide free consultations with our project directors.
Trees, Shrubs, and Perennials
Plantings are the most common landscape elements, and key to adding color, vibrancy and softness to the exterior of a home or business. Plantings include custom gardens, trees, accent plants, shrubs, ground cover or a natural screen to add privacy to your yard.
Landscape plantings should complement the architecture, and incorporate the owner’s ideas. Gardens and plant selections have a wide variety of forms and functions. All trees and shrubs we plant come with a one-year guarantee.
Although different plantings require various levels of maintenance, there’s no such thing as a "no maintenance" garden. Our landscape architects will design a landscape plan for you that best suits your lifestyle and desired level of management.
Proper Grading and Lawn Installation
A beautiful lawn should complement beautiful landscaping. Usually the largest area around your home, the health of your lawn directly impacts the beauty of your home.
The key to a beautiful lawn is professional grading. Our landscapers will carefully assess the grade of your yard, ensuring water flows away from the foundation and that your property has proper drainage. We have the equipment and the experience to design a properly graded yard, which will increase the beauty of your property and reduce the chance of water damage to your home.
Our landscapers will spend extra time and care to ensure your lawn is scarified and hand raked to remove large debris and to fill in depressions. A proper ratio of granular fertilizer is always applied to both seeded and sod lawns.
If your property requires lawn restoration, please contact us to discuss your options.

Lighting
Landscape lighting adds a unique dimension to your new or existing landscaping. Lighting accents the beauty of a home or business while adding security and highlights to the property. We install low voltage lighting that either turns on automatically, or by remote control. We also offer an annual maintenance program to replace bulbs and clean your landscape light fixtures.
We install LED landscape lights. Although not new to the lighting industry, LED lighting is a modern technique in landscape lighting. LED lights can now display color as warm and soft as conventional bulbs, making the beauty of your home or building stand out. LEDs use approximately one-tenth the energy of standard bulbs, resulting in lower electric bills.
Natural Stone Retaining Walls
Stone Landscaping provides a solid base to any home landscape design or commercial landscaping project. Landscaping with rocks, or adding a patio or seating wall to a landscape design, are among the ways to improve the look of your lawn and garden.
Stone landscaping includes landscaping with rocks, patios, retaining walls, walkways and water features. Water features include ponds, waterfalls, water diversion and underground water storage.
Adding a stone landscaping feature to your project can extend a current living space into the outdoors, help with traffic flow around your home or business, or create a new “room” for your home including an outdoor kitchen and fireplace for entertaining.

Lakeshores
Lakeshore Landscapes, a division of Kittleson Landscape, specializes in lakefront stabilization, and providing proper solutions to special problems lakefront lots often encounter. We know how to work with the DNR rules and regulations that make waterfront development a challenge, and we’re able to create unique solutions to address those challenges.
We do all the landscape work required to complete or improve your home. We install retaining walls, patios, accent lighting and planting beds, and can improve your access to the water.
Let us put a "one of a kind" stamp on your property. Whether you live on one of Madison's lakes, Lake Wisconsin, or any of the other lakes or rivers in Dane, Sauk or Iowa counties, contact us for your waterfront landscaping needs.

Water Conservation
Water conservation includes reducing demand for water, and improving the efficiency of the water you use. Conservation helps protect our local water resources. Conserved outdoor water (i.e. rain water) can easily be used for other purposes, rather than using “new” water from our municipal system. Rainwater, when reused, not only helps protect this precious natural resource, it also is healthier for our plants and other vegetation than municipal water sources.
Why is water conservation important?
As we use water inside and outside our homes, we deplete the natural water table. This depletes our local wetlands and affects natural living spaces for wildlife.
As specialists in DNR rules and regulations, we take our job as environmental advocates very seriously. Let us look at your unique situation and see what we can do for you.
